The Eurostar train waiting to depart for Paris. I took the train over from London, just to go through the Channel Tunnel (which has been called one of the modern wonders of the world).
Here's a blurb about the tunnel itself: "The tunnel consists of 3 interconnected tubes: 1 rail track each way plus 1 service tunnel. Its length is 31 miles, of which 23 miles are underwater. Its average depth is 150 feet under the seabed."
The train takes just 2 hours and 35 minutes to reach Paris Gare du Nord from London Waterloo.
